Everything Everywhere claims early Oscars as gala kicks off with slap jokes
The 191st show of Mahakal Natya Sampradays much-acclaimed production Shikhondi Katha will be staged Jatiya Natyashala auditorium of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) tomorrow.
Written by Anan Zaman and directed by Rashid Harun, the play Shikhondi Katha narrates the story of a transgender individual, who takes birth into a family as Ratan in a village named Hijaltali.
In the story, Ramela gives birth to a son after having two daughters. Ramela and her husband Ramzed Molla are very happy for their son. Ramzed named him Ratan. Later, Ratan physically changed as a girl. His family and people of the village see this change. But, Ramela denies to send Ratan to the place of third gender.
Ratan became an obstacle to his sisters marriage and his father scolds him. He then realises that society will not accept him and he goes to a third genders lodge. There he grows under the supervision of Kali Masi as Ratna.
The cast of Shikhondi Katha includes Anan Zaman, Poli Biswas, Ripon Rony, Shamrat, Sabuj Hossain, Md. Shahnewaz, Sayed Ferdous Ikram, Kamruzzaman Shabuj, Lutfor Rahman, Mir Zahid Hassan and others.
Tanvir Hasan and Shafiqul Islam have designed the set, while Rafiqul Haque Himel designed the stage lights. The costume and makeup are done by Wahida Mollick and Shubhashish Dutta Tonmoy respectively. Rajashree Roy is the choreographer of the play.

Drama serial Family Distance will be aired on Boishakhi TV at 9.20pm today. Written and directed by Hasan Jahangir, the drama stars Abul Hayat, Dilara Zaman, Dolly Johur, Wahida Mollick Jolly, Shafiq Khan Dilu and others.
